Project 01: Construction of the Alms Hall
Since there has been no suitable alms hall for the monks to partake in alms for some time, the Vihara Development Committee decided to construct a new alms hall. Accordingly, fundraising for the construction of the proposed building commenced in the year 2007. By combining the income received from the public exhibition of the “Maha Thorana” (Grand Pandol) held over several years and donations from philanthropists, it was possible to construct the ground floor in 2018. During the years 2021 and 2022, the laying of the slab (77.6 ft × 46.6 ft) on the ground floor was further carried out at a cost of Rs. 3,250,000.00.
As of now, the estimated cost to complete this project is fifteen million rupees. We seek the assistance of generous donors for this.
Project 02: Shrine Room
Over 140 years old today the Shrine Room, which remains as a marvel of the architecture of that era, must now be renovated. Water leaks occurring during the rainy season have caused the old paintings and sculptures in the Shrine Room to fade. Although temporary solutions have been provided from time to time, a complete restoration of the roof is required by now. The total estimated cost for this is Rs. 300,000.00. We hope for philanthropic donors to provide financial support.
Project 03: Preaching Hall
Constructed in the year 1880, the Preaching Hall is used for the public to gather and conduct religious activities, as well as to hold Dhamma (Sunday) school for children.
Currently, the floor is cracked and pitted with holes, making it difficult to use the preaching hall and to keep it clean. For this reason, the estimated amount for the proposed project to level the ground and lay floor tiles is Rs. 2,500,000.00. We seek the assistance of generous donors.
Project 04: Monks' Quarters
Built around the year 1880, the old Monks’ Quarters is a historical building belonging to the temple. Used by the venerable monks to this day, these quarters must now be renovated. It is our duty to maintain this building for the future while preserving its historical value. The estimated cost for this is 15 Million Rupees. We seek the assistance of generous donors.
Project 05: Old Well
Several old stone wells dug as far back as the year 1900 are scattered across the temple grounds. Built upon still-active water springs, these wells need to be repaired for reuse.
Project 06: New Treatment Building
A massive number of people from all over the island come to our temple daily to receive treatment. They spend the night in various places across the temple grounds with very minimal facilities, undergoing their treatments amidst severe difficulties without proper toilet facilities or access to food.
Even foreigners who come for treatment face these hardships. As a solution to this, it has been proposed to construct a fully equipped treatment building. Plans have been designed to include treatment rooms, a dispensary, accommodation facilities, a kitchen, a dining room, and toilet facilities. The estimated cost for this major project is 40 million. We seek the assistance of generous donors for this.
Project 07: Atavisi Budu Ge Renovation
The Atavisi Budu Ge is in need of urgent renovation to preserve this sacred place for future generations.
The following repairs are required:
- Roof Repair: The existing roof has deteriorated and requires replacement/repair to prevent water leaks and further structural damage.
- Floor Renovation: The floor is damaged and needs to be repaired or retiled to ensure safety, cleanliness, and a dignified environment for devotees.
